Man who died in Monaghan collision named locally

Mr Murphy who is aged in his 60s died at the scene.

A pedestrian who died following a road traffic collision in Monaghan Town over the weekend has been named locally.

Benedict Murphy of Cathedral View, Monaghan, died on Saturday.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision at Old Cross Square in Monaghan Town.

Shortly after 10:15am on Saturday morning, Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the collision, involving a lorry and a pedestrian.
Mr Murphy who is aged in his 60s died at the scene.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
Any road users, who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were traveling in the area of Old Cross Square, Monaghan between 10:00am and 10:30am Saturday morning are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
