A Co Cavan senior member of An Garda Síochána says there has been a marked increase in drug driving.
Cavan Superintendent, Gavin O'Reilly says he's concerned by the rise in motorists who are taking to the roads that are under the influence of drugs.
He says Gardai locally are making more detections and testing capabilities have increased.
Supt O'Reilly says people need to be aware that drugs can stay in your system for a longer period than you may think.
Drivers are being asked to always drive within the speed limit, watch out for vulnerable road users, wear a seatbelt and never use a mobile phone when behind the wheel.
Mr O'Reilly says the fact is that a rise in drug driving is concerning.
He says levels of drug driving detections is now becoming equal to that of drink driving incidents and he's says that's a really worry.
