A Monaghan-based carer has been announced as a regional winner of the Comfort Keepers Carer of the Year Awards 2026.
Dorothy McCooey received the award for her dedication and consistent high standards in caring.
In the storied halls of Croke Park, and attended by family, friends, and colleagues, Dorothy was honoured at a special Comfort Keepers event to celebrate the 2026 Regional Carer of the Year Winners.
She was chosen as one of 18 finalists from around the country.
Dorothy McCooey, Regional Winner of the Comfort Keepers Carer of the Year Awards 2006 said winning means a lot to her.
She explained: "It is lovely to be recognised for my work, especially with votes coming from other carers. I would never have thought nine years ago when I started with Comfort keepers that it would come to this. Initially I was nervous and didn't know if it was for me, but I soon realised that I was really enjoying the work.
"I am very lucky to be with a great group of carers, and a supportive office team, in Co. Monaghan."
Comfort Keepers employs 300 people across the northeast, serving Louth, Monaghan, and Meath.
