A Monaghan County Councillor has called on the council to write to the Minister for Finance in relation to money collected from the Residential Zoned Land Tax.
PJ O'Hanlon asked that the council write to Minister for Finance to seek that money made from the RZLT is retained locally.
He wants to see this put into the development of local infrastructure and serviced sites.
The Cathaoirleach also wants to see the letter circulated to every local authority.
The motion was received full council agreement.
Speaking to Northern Sound Cllr. O'Hanlon said he thinks it's wrong to put it into a general pot.
