Monaghan County Council has adopted its Annual Budget for 2026, totalling over €97M, a 4% increase (€3.86 million) on last year’s budget.
This budget reflects the Council’s commitment to delivering high-quality services while maintaining financial responsibility.
It balances ambition with prudence, addressing rising costs and funding challenges while focusing on priorities that matter most to our communities.
The 2026 Budget places strong emphasis on housing delivery and continues progress in tackling vacancy and dereliction to revitalise our towns and villages.
Investment in social infrastructure remains central, with funding for playparks, open spaces and community facilities.
The Council will also continue to support communities through funding for environmental initiatives, festivals and events, while sustaining investment in tourism development to grow Monaghan’s visitor economy.
The budget further prioritises support for local businesses, ensuring Monaghan remains a vibrant and competitive county for enterprise and investment.
