Lands at Coolshannagh in Monaghan are to be re-zoned for development following a debate in Monaghan County Council.
At the last monthly meeting of the Council, members discussed five amendments to the draft county development plan for 2025 - '31. Whether to re-zone the 1.16 hectares of greenfield land at Coolshannagh for industrial use was the first item on the agenda.
Councillors met some 37 times to discuss in detail every aspect of the draft plan before the meeting earlier this month when the fact the lands are prone to flooding but conveniently located to roads was debated. In the end, elected members voted by nine votes to seven to re-zone the lands from conservation lands to industrial use.
