A Monaghan Councillor is set to bring a motion to prevent the Peter McVerry Trust operating any properties in Monaghan at this month's council meeting.
Independent Councillor Seamus Treanor is opposed to any such proprieties being operated by the charity in Monaghan Town.
In a statement to Shannonside Northern news The Peter McVerry Trust said that they were at an advance stage of securing accommodation in Monaghan.
The local councillor raised his concerns following his opposition to the housing of sex offender Simon McGinley by the trust.
McGinley served 13 years of an overall 21-year sentence for the brutal rape of an 86-year-old woman in her Co Monaghan home in 2008.
The Peter McVerry Trust confirmed to Shannonside Northern News that they did accommodate Simon McGinley for a time but he is no longer living in one of their properties.
