A Monaghan councillor has welcomed the new Affordable Purchase Scheme which was recently opened for applications.
Cllr Pauric Clerkin says he has been "inundated with queries" since the local authority released information regarding the scheme. 10 units have been made available under the scheme at Station View in Monaghan Town. According to Cllr Clerkin, these local homes will be made available for first-time buyers and fresh start applicants who meet the criteria at a reduced price. With many struggling to purchase a home due to increasing property prices, Cllr Clerkin says Monaghan County Council has been "forward thinking" in dealing with this issue and supporting those in the "squeezed middle."
