Monaghan man calls for more supports for the Irish language

A National Protest for the Irish language and the Gaeltacht will take place this afternoon in Dublin.

A Co Monaghan man is calling on more funding and resources for the Irish language.
Sean O Murchada is the Cathaoirleach of Muineachan le Gaelige says more supports are needed for the futureproofing of our native language.
A National Protest for the Irish language and the Gaeltacht will take place this afternoon in Dublin.

According to orgainsers, this protest is a 'direct result of failure by both northern and southern governments to adequately resolve long standing crises regarding language rights, Gaeltacht housing, education and funding'
The rally will begin in Parnell Square at 1.30pm before making it's way through Dublin City Centre to convene at Leinster House for a final demonstration.
Sean says people from Cavan and Monaghan will be in attendence.
He says more supports for the Irish language is needed.
