Monaghan Paralympian makes history in America

Shane has encouraged others who have a dream to "follow it" and "never give up" despite any knock backs.

A Monaghan man made history recently in America taking on his successful fifth Guinness World record. 12 months ago, Paralympian Shane McLoughlin hadn’t achieved any world record, a year later he has achieved this amazing feat with five in a row. Most recently, Shane pulled a 40 tonne truck in New York with a core mission of seeing the sport being recognised in the 2028 Paralympics in LA. He said from day one, it was always the plan to highlight truck pulling as a sport and see it being recognised in the Paralympics.

Shane says at the end of the day this is about raising awareness for amputees around the world. He said his continued journey of world records shows the world on the global stage that people like him can do as much or even more than any able bodied person can:
