Monaghan has received the second highest number of nominations so far for 'The Best Place to Holiday in Ireland'.
The competition is led by The Irish Times in association with Failte Ireland.
Conor Goodman who is Chair of the judging panel, believes Covid played a massive role in helping people get to know their immediate and communities.
He added that the stay-cationing 'phenonium' over the last two years also meant that barely anyone left the county, and instead experienced all that was available to them right on their front door-step and in the surrounding areas.
Speaking to Northern Sound, he reminded people that the closing date for entries is June 7th.
