This week marked Internet Safety Day and Students from St Louis Secondary School in Monaghan have shared their thoughts on the negative impact social media can have.
Australia has banned under-16s from using social media, becoming the first country to do so.
Speaking to Northern Sound, student Sheana Cadden says social media can be very harmful, particularly for young girls.
Despite this, she believes an outright ban would not be necessary.
Instead, she feels more regulation is needed when it comes to making the internet less dangerous for young people:
