The R187 between Monaghan and Roslea has reopened following a fatal road traffic collision.
Gardaí and emergency services attended the single-vehicle road crash at Inishammon, Smithboro at around 7:30pm last night.
Smithboro man Adrian Keenan who is aged in his 30s died at the scene.
The road was closed for a technical examination carried out by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators but it has since reopened.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.
Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R187 at Inishammon, Co. Monaghan, on Wednesday 28th January 2026 between 7.15pm and 8.15pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
