Monaghan weather watcher Gerry Murphy says while snow is expected across the Northern Sound region overnight and tomorrow morning, he predicts disruption will be minimal.
Met Éireann has issued a status yellow snow warning for Connaught, Cavan and Monaghan tomorrow. Gerry Murphy says three to five centimetres of snow is forecast to fall overnight and will lie during the morning. However, with mild air spreading in from the west in the afternoon, the snow is expected to turn to sleet and ice will clear.
"What the day can expect for Cavan and Monaghan basically will be sleet in most places and snow in some places as well with the snow most likely more so on the higher ground," Mr Murphy told Northern Sound, "In saying that, anywhere could get snow but, if there is snow it will be a fairly small amount on lower levels, maybe three to five centimetres, that's one to two inches max, and it will be mostly sleet."
