A Clones councillor is calling for "balanced development" when it comes to the delivery of much needed housing across Co Monaghan.
A report circulated from the Minister for Housing in relation to new housing growth requirements between now and 2031 at this month's sitting of Monaghan County Council.
While Cllr Pat Treanor welcomed an increase in planning applications for the likes of Carrickmacross and Monaghan Town, he believes other areas like Clones and Ballybay are not seeing that same progression.
As a result, he is calling for a plan to be put in place that would deliver houses right across Co Monaghan on an equal level.
He says the area of Ballybay-Clones is the biggest MD in the county however it holds the smallest population.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Treanor fears that this trend will continue unless action is taken:
