Members of the Cavan Roads Policing Unit while on patrol yesterday observed a motorist driving in an erratic manner. On stopping this driver a roadside drug test was performed and subsequently failed. According to local Gardaí, the driver tested positive for both cocaine and opiates.
On arrest further blood samples were taken to be forwarded to the Medical Bureau of Road Safety. Gardaí in Cavan are appealing to road users to not risk lives by driving while under the influence of intoxicants.
