A motorist was recorded driving 112 km/h in a 50 km/h zone on the R183 in Dernaglug, Doohamlet, Co. Monaghan.
This was recorded by gardaí as part of an operation throughout the St Patrick’s Bank Holiday Weekend that runs until Wednesday.
During the first 72 hours of the operation, there were two fatalities as a result of traffic collisions on our roads. This brings the total number of fatalities on Irish roads this year to 36.

93 people have been arrested for drink or drug-driving so far this weekend, while more than 2 and-a-half thousand have been caught speeding.
