A local councillor has welcomed the formation of the Shannon Pot Discovery Centre DAC. This is a company set-up to operate the new visitor centre and to manage the new facilities at Cavan Burren Park.
The establishment of the DAC was a requirement of the funding allocated by Failte Ireland for this project. This will bring people beyond the local authority in to give guidance and to support staff in managing and promoting the visitor centre when it opens in 2026.
There is a total of 10 directors which includes local representatives like Cllr John Paul Feeley along with others who have a background in business, hospitality, tourism and heritage. According to Cllr Feeley, these people will bring important skills on a voluntary basis to manage what is going to be a flagship project for this region, not just for the locality or for the county.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Feeley said both Failte Ireland and Cavan County Council have ambitious targets for visitor numbers coming to the Shannon Pot.
