The Ballybay/Clones MD has adopted a new development plan for the village of Smithboro.
Monaghan County Council confirmed that they will deliver a village development plan in each of the municipal districts over the next number of years.
Cllr Sinead Flynn proposed at this week's sitting of the Ballybay/Clones MD to commence with the village of Smithboro in 2026.
The plan will take a whole village approach, examining facilities, recreation, safety, infrastructure and future development.
Cllr Flynn says Smithboro has over 500 residents and the development plan will look at the village as a whole.
A community plan is also underway at the minute for the village.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Sinead Flynn says she is looking forward to seeing more development from services and activities for the youth, elderly and the community as a whole: "I look forward to working with all stakeholders on this development plan to shape a shared and positive future for Smithboro village."
