Local figures show a significant rise in interest earned by the Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board.
The ETB recorded €22,874 in interest on money on deposit in 2024.
That's up from just €4,257 the previous year.

The figures were given following a parliamentary question from TD Micheál Carrigy.
In her response Minister for Education and Youth Hildegarde Naughton outlined the interest earned by ETBs and her Department.
Nationally, ETBs earned more than €1.21 million in interest in 2024, with 2025 figures to be published once accounts are finalised.
