Cavan Sports Partnership and Cavan County Council, in conjunction with Swim Ireland, announced the creation of a 'Get Cavan Swimming Officer' this week. The Officer will co-ordinate and implement the delivery of an integrated swimming programme across the county.
The local authority said the position will help to fulfil the needs of the people of Cavan where demand for swimming opportunities is at "an all time high". It highlighted how the move will also allow for the promotion of swimming as a life skill to everyone.
As part of the announcement there are a number of exciting initiatives planned, including a partnership initiative with the Community Development association at Arva's Outdoor Pool as well as the introduction of Swim Ireland's new series of 'Pop-Up-Pools' to the county.
