New third level CMETB courses allows students to study locally

Students can now progress to higher education within their local community, reducing travel and accommodation costs.

CMETB is to offer a range of new third level courses, some of which will be run in partnership with other colleges and education boards.

To begin with, a tertiary partnership with the Atlantic Technological University in Sligo will see CMETB deliver the first year of a Social Care degree in Cavan Institute. Students undertaking the first year of this degree can now progress from further education to higher education within their local community, reducing barriers like travel and accommodation costs.

Then, an Articulation Agreement between Monaghan Institute and DKIT will allow students to progress to year 2 of the Architectural Technology degree. CMETB are also progressing the development of Spa and Tiling traineeships, and new modules in warehousing and sector-specific ESOL micro-qualifications.
