A local councillor has welcomed funding allocated to Carrickmacross under the nationwide Town and Village Renewal scheme.
Funding of €500,000 was awarded towards streetscape and amenity enhancements to the main street, including the enhancement of lighting to historic landmark buildings and the provision of a public water feature at the Market Square.
Cllr Colm Carthy says a key element of this funding will be the delivery of a water feature for the town.
Cllr Carthy said this is something that he got involved in back in 2017 alongside the late great Francie Cassidy who was one of the founding members of Carrickmacross Tidy Towns.
He said Francie had a vision to bring a water feature to the town, not only to support the endeavours of Carrickmacross Tidy Towns but as an additional amenity to the town centre.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Carthy said he very much welcomes the delivery of the funding for the water feature and looks forward to seeing this project come to fruition:
