Attracting more people to Rossmore Forest Park and Co Monaghan as a whole can only be a "good thing." That's according to Monaghan Senator Robbie Gallagher, who has welcomed a planning application by Zipline Adventure Activities for Rossmore Park. According to Senator Gallagher, if successful the development has the potential to "add a new dimension to Rossmore Forest Park" which is already the most visited Coillte forest park in the country. Addressing concerns over whether or not this additional attraction would interfere with the peace and tranquillity of Rossmore, Senator Gallagher said this is something which he personally has enquired about. Senator Gallagher says he's been assured that it "won't be an issue" if planning goes ahead due to the location of where the adventure facilities will be placed at Rossmore: "Some people might be concerned if this will interfere with the tranquillity and peacefulness of the park , I'm assured in the locations where they already are in Tibradden Wood (Dublin), Lough Key (Co Roscommon) and Farran Park (Co Cork) this is not an issue. If Zipline Adventure Activities get the planning permission form Monaghan County Council it will be secluded in an area close to the carpark and it won't interfere with the peace and quiet of the park which people are used to and it's proven to be an extremely popular attraction in the locations where it is already."
The proposals include aerial tracking ziplines, a nets course, tubing course and ancillary activities with a single storey reception cabin and a staff welfare cabin along with site and ancillary works. A decision on the application is due in April.
