No fines have been issued in the last three years by Cavan County Council for dog fouling offences.
In information obtained by Northern Sound, there were zero dog fines in Cavan for 2023, 2024 and 2025.
Cavan County Council says when it comes to dog fouling incidents enforcement is more challenging as it requires that the individual in charge of the dog is caught at the moment that the dog fouling takes place.
Despite this, litter wardens regularly undertake patrols to tackle any concerns around dog fouling and highlight responsibilities to dog owners in highlighted areas.
The Council also places bag dispensers and signage in affected areas and carries out anti-dog fouling awareness campaigns on social media throughout the year.
