Yesterday morning Cavan Roads Policing Unit commenced a checkpoint operation at 4:30am on the N3.
A number of HGVs were not allowed to continue their journeys due to major defects and in relation to driving hour infringements.
The early morning joint checkpoint was conducted alongside the RSA.

A number of motorists were also detected travelling well in excess of the speed limit and received Fixed Payment Notices.
One driver was also arrested after failing a roadside drug test.
