An Garda Síochána has missed its roads policing staff targets for the second year in a row.
That's despite an increase in road deaths last year compared with 2024.
Only one RPU (Roads Policing Unit) member was appointed to Co Cavan, while Co Monaghan received no allocations in 2025.
Gardaí only allocated 56 members to roads policing duties last year - despite needing 127 to fulfil commitments.
The Traffic Corps had 1,200 members in 2009 - but roads policing staff is now at 645 nationally.
