There has been over 11,000 claims for the The Rent Tax Credit since 2023 in Cavan and Monaghan.
The Rent Tax Credit was introduced by the Finance Act 2022 and may be claimed in respect of qualifying rent paid in 2022 and subsequent years to the end of 2025.
The value of the credit for 2022 and 2023 was €500 for a single person and €1,000 for a jointly assessed couple.
For the years 2024 and 2025, the value of the credit increased to €1,000 for a single person and €2,000 for a jointly assessed couple.
In 2023, there was 2,880 claims made for the support in Cavan, while the same year 2,430 claims were made in Monaghan.
2,700 claims in Cavan were made in 2024 and 2,250 in Monaghan.
While 590 applications were made this year so far in Cavan and in Monaghan 520 claims were made.
