Over 3,400 cars have been licensed for the first time in the Northern Sound region so far this year.
The number was revealed in a recent report compiled by the CSO.
The CSO provided a break-down of the number of vehicles licensed for the first time by month and by type.
In the Northern Sound region, just over 650 cars were licensed for the first time in the month of July.
This includes 297 in Co. Monaghan and 360 in Co. Cavan.
Of these, 67 were electric vehicles.
This brings to 3,440 the total number of vehicles licensed in the Northern Sound region so far this year.
Nationally, the number of new private cars licensed for July 2025 rose by 8% when compared with July 2024.
Toyota was the most popular make of new private car licensed last month.
