Over €30,000 allocated to local heritage projects

Local Minister Niamh Smyth congratulated the local groups who have benefited from this mornings announcement.

Over €30,000 has been allocated for local heritage projects in Cavan & Monaghan.

Bailieborough Heritage is set to receive €19,120.  Minister of State at the Department of Heritage Christopher O’Sullivan has announced 4 local groups who have received money for works in their local area.  The announcement today comes as part of a €1.9 million funding package under the Heritage’s Council 2025 Community Heritage Grant Scheme.  Bailieborough Heritage Society has received funding of €19,120 for the conservation and maintenance of The Old Church of Ireland and Graveyard. Similarly, Shercock Tidy Towns will get €5,040 towards the traditional field gates in Shercock.

In County Monaghan, Truagh Development Association has been awarded €1,400 for Errigal Truagh Ancient Graveyard while Siolta Croi have been allocated €7,150 for a training series on heritage practices. Local Minister Niamh Smyth congratulated the local groups who have benefited from this mornings announcement:

“Congratulations to the groups on their successful applications and for the ongoing work they are doing in their own respective areas to enhance these wonderful pieces of heritage. Without the active work of these heritage groups in these areas, I have no doubt that important pieces of local heritage would be lost forever” concluded Minister Smyth.
