Peace project launched in Monaghan

Delivered in partnership with Politics in Action (Northern Ireland) and Create (Ireland), with the support of Arts Council Ireland and Arts Council of Northern Ireland

The launch of a peace programme took place at Monaghan Peace Campus today.

This €2.08 million project, supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB), will see over 3,400 people from NI and the border regions of Ireland, benefit from grassroot projects in community leadership, community festivals and media initiatives.

Delivered in partnership with Politics in Action (Northern Ireland) and Create (Ireland), with the support of Arts Council Ireland and Arts Council of Northern Ireland, CONNECT is a transformative four-year project which will bring together people from different cultural, ethnic and political backgrounds, including those whose voices are often missing from public debate, who will contribute to a more resilient and peaceful society.

Speaking to Northern Sound, Dr Kerry McCall Magan, Director Ireland, British Council about the programme.

Minister of State for Community Development, Charities and Rural Transport, Government of Ireland, Jerry Buttimer was one of the keynote speakers at the event.

Chief Executive, Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB), Gina McIntyre was also at the event.
