Vantage Towers is seeking permission to remove and replace three timber telecommunication poles across Monaghan.
Vantage Towers say the current timber poles "does not allow Vodafone to optimise their coverage" and that the existing infrastructure is "inadequate" and an update is needed.
The works would see a 14.5 metre timber pole removed from Mullaghmore West in Ballinode, to be replaced by an 18 metre high monopole with antennas, dishes and associated equipment.
A separate planning application involves the removal of a seven metre timber pole in Derrygassan Upper, Emyvale, with an 18 metre high monopole taking its place.
A third application seeks the removal of an 18 meter timber pole in Shanco, Corduff, Carrickmaross, and the erection of a 21 metre structure.
The planning applications note that coverage issues can only be rectified through replacement communications structures and that the developments will substantially improve connectivity.
A decision on the applications is expected by the end of November.
