Planning permission has been approved for a purpose built 'age friendly' housing estate in Co Cavan.
Plans for the construction of 26 new homes at Rahardrum and Ballahanea on the outskirts of Virginia were formally lodged by BRS Developments last August.
The now approved plans comprise of 12 single storey semi-detached houses and eight larger three bedroom semi-detached homes.
The remaining part of the proposed development included designs for five detached two storey houses consisting of three bedrooms each and a one bedroom single storey detached house.
A single storey communal building also makes up the planned development.
A Natura Impact Statement (NIS) was also conducted and Cavan County Council gave the go-ahead with 25 conditions attached.
