A local Community Development Association is seeking permission to erect a
life size woolly mammoth at a site in Co Cavan.
The application has been lodged by the Belturbet Community Development
Association for the Railway Station Site in Straheglin, Belturbet.
The works would see the life size woolly mammoth, which measures 10 by 14
feet, be placed on a base which would blend into the surrounding ground.

There would also be a "gravel viewing area" to the front of the structure,
which would include two benches.
A decision on the works is expected by the 12th of January.
