Plans have been lodged to refurbishment a well known vacant building in Clones.
The Board of Clones Development Society have applied to Monaghan County Council to renovate and restore the former Canal Workers Cottage on Cara Street.
The works on the building, constructed around 1840, will see it turned into first floor community office with ground floor public toilets and community tea rooms ancillary to the canal stores.
The original outbuildings are set to be removed, a two storey roof extension to the gable and and a single storey extension measuring 87 square metres to the front of the existing structure make up part of the application.
A decision on the plans is due at the end of June
