Positive steps have been made to make Co Monaghan more inclusive.
Monaghan County Council outlined it's plans to establish a Disability Steering Committee at it's most recent sitting which will lead the development of a five-year Disability Strategy for the county.
It is hoped that this new strategy will give a voice and enhance the lives of those living with a disability in Co Monaghan.
The vision of the Strategy is to facilitate access for people with disabilities to the appropriate range of housing and related support services, delivered in an integrated and sustainable manner, which promotes equality of opportunity, individual choice and independent living.
Councillors Sean Conlon, Peter Conlon and Seamus Coyle were all appointed to the Disability Steering Committee by members of Monaghan County Council.
This committee will ensure that services across Co Monaghan are accessible to people with a disability.
