Sinn Fein says the long processing time for international protection applicants shows the system is broken.
It's taking an average of 18-months for standard applications to be processed, according to figures from the Department of Justice.
The data for 2024 also shows accelerated applicants had to wait 18-weeks for a decision on their case. Sinn Fein's justice spokesperson, Matt Carthy, says long processing times are causing problems for applicants and services.
