Progress expected shortly on new Emyvale Garda Station
Emyvale Garda Station was destroyed in a suspected arson attack.

There's been little progress since the fire in 2019.

The planning notice for a temporary Garda Station in Emyvale is expected to be published shortly.

The north Monaghan village has been without a functional garda station since a fire in 2019.

Extensive damage was caused to the building after a fire broke out in the early hours of October 28th 2019.

A man has been charged in relation to the incident and is currently before the Courts.

Eleven months ago it was confirmed that planning was underway on developing new garda accommodation, after the fire-damaged building was demolished.

Two proposals on a permanent solution were to be finalised at the start of this year, however a Garda spokesperson said Covid-19 had delayed the decision making.

In February, it was confirmed to local Senator Robbie Gallagher that modular buildings would be brought in as a temporary measure.

The Office of Public Works confirmed to Northern Sound News this week that the planning application for the modular unit is expected to be issued shortly.

It added that discussions with Garda Estate Management is ongoing on the overall long term requirements of An Garda Siochána in Emyvale.
