A local councillor has highlighted concerns felt by residents in Clones over speeding.
Residents of Cara Street on the Cavan Road area of Clones have raised concerns with Cllr Pat Treanor around dangers created by the increased volume of traffic going to the popular Clones Marina and speeding on the Fermanagh side of that road.
Cllr Treanor confirmed to Northern Sound that Monaghan County Council have carried out vehicular and pedestrian surveys at this location.
This survey focused on traffic speeds and pedestrian footfall generated by the marina walking route.
Results have been discussed with TII and a feasibility report is currently being prepared by the local authority for a provision of traffic calming measures, pedestrian crossing points and speed limit reductions.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Treanor welcomed the news: "I think the people of that area will be delighted to see that at least some form of progress is moving in order to make it safer for people along that stretch of road."
