Monaghan County Council has been made aware of reports of individuals visiting members of the public and falsely claiming to be staff.
These individuals have been offering to carry out tar and other works on private lanes.
Monaghan County Council is advising the public that Council staff do not cold call households or offer such services directly.
Any approach of this nature is fraudulent and should be treated with caution.
Members of the public are urged to not engage with these callers, do not provide payment or personal information.and report any suspicious activity to An Garda Síochána.
In a statement issued to Northern Sound, Monaghan County Council said it remains committed to safeguarding the community and ensuring that residents are protected from fraudulent activity.
