A Ukrainian refugee living in Co Monaghan says the system has failed her.
Maria Alekseeva who resides at the M Hotel in Carrickmacross says after she sought asylum she can't take up any employment.
She says after seeking asylum here to remain in Ireland, she has been unable to obtain official identification so she can work here.
Maria says that she left her warn torn country with only her national ID card which isn't accepted here to allow her obtain an ID card.
The system online seeks a driving license or passport and she has neither.
The woman that has lived in Ireland for 3 years says she can't get an online appointment due to not having an ID in an effort to obtain an ID.
Maria says she wants to work and make her life here and at present she receives no money from the government except for her bed and food at the local IPAS centre.
She is a recognised refugee with her status granted in September. However, due to a glitch in the mandatory "ID-Pal" app, she says she has been unable to get her IRP card. She says she was then told to "get a Learner Driving Permit" solely to verify her identity. She passed the theory test and paid for the permit-but the system still failed her. .
She says despite holding a valid Status and a PPSN, the Department of Social Protection refuses to release any payments without the physical IRP card. She has been left with zero income for over 3 months.
She says she is completely destitute, relying on hotel food to survive and she say this is how the system treats people who follow every rule.
