Works are set to begin on the Bog Road during the first week of August.
Cllr Pauric Clerkin welcomed the news, with works to be of huge benefit to residents and all users of the road.
Funding was previously allocated for repair works to be carried out on the 1,100 metre section of road from Scotstown village out the Bog Road.
Welcoming the news, Cllr Clerkin said; "Works are set to begin on the Bog Road in the first week of August (weather depending). This is welcome news for residents and all users of the road. I want to thank the Roads Section of Monaghan County Council who worked tirelessly to find a technical solution and funding. It's also important to mention the Residents Group, who formed, campaigned and canvassed the council to get these much needed works done on the grounds of Health and Safety."
