Schools in Cavan to benefit from 'Holiday Hunger' scheme

18 schools in Co Cavan are set to benefit from the Holiday Hunger pilot project scheme.

As part of the 2025 budget, €1.3 million was set aside for a Holiday Hunger pilot project to support some 68,000 of our most vulnerable children with complex special educational needs and those at greatest risk of educational disadvantage.

Minister for Social Protection Dara Callery says this is a key initiative as part of the government's priority to combat holiday hunger and will also alleviate the costs for schools associated with running a summer programme.

This initiative marks a strategic expansion of the highly successful Hot School Meals Programme.
