A Scotstown man was named the best new member in the North West at the Macra last Saturday at the, at the finals of the 2025 Club of the Year and Best New Member Competitions.
Mark Sherry, who is the chairperson of Scotstown Macra, picked up the award in Rosscarbery, Co. Cork, last Saturday.
Mr. Sherry joined the club just over a year ago as "something to do" at the weekends.
He soon found himself involved in the committee, before becoming the chair of the club in the summer.
The Scotstown man said agriculture has had a big influence on his life, but that he isn't from a farm himself.
He told Northern Sound he is proud to win the award.
Mr. Sherry said: "I don't consider my self to be any better than any other Macra member.
"I thought for my own mental state, I thought, at the weekends about wanting to go out and do things and get involved in different things.
"Helping my community as well, you get great satisfaction about that, and organising charity events. You get involved, and see where the money raised goes towards," he added.
