While Sean Quinn has not given his blessing for Sean Gallagher to buy the Slieve Russell Hotel through Northern Sound, he said he "would give his support to a local investor like Gallagher".
Mr Quinn's comments come after we reported that property entrepreneur Sean Gallagher from Ballyhaise was preparing a bid for the Slieve yesterday. Mr Gallagher also confirmed reports that he would not be interested in buying the Ballyconnell Hotel "without the blessing of Sean Quinn, his family and the local community".
When contacted, Sean Quinn, said he was aware of Mr Gallagher's interest in his former landmark hotel and the remarks he made about wanting the Quinn family's approval. Although he would not be pressed on whether Mr Gallagher had his blessing, or not, Sean Quinn made it clear he would not object to the Slieve falling into the hands of another Cavan businessman.
