Seven schools in the Northern Sound region have just been approved for additional special needs classrooms.
In Cavan, Breifne College, in Cavan Town, St Aidan's Comprehensive School, Cootehill, Carrigabruise National School in Virginia and Kingscourt's Coláiste Dun an Rí have all be given the go-ahead by the Department of Education.
The National Council for Special Education also approved classrooms for children with additional needs in St Louis Primary School, St Mary's Scoil Mhuire Primary School and St Louis Secondary School, Monaghan.
Minister of State at the Department of Education, Michael Moynihan made the announcement today for the 2025/26 academic year. Fianna Fáil TD for Cavan-Monaghan Brendan Smith welcomed the news for the seven local schools as "needed":
