A sign which was erected on the N2 outside the village of Emyvale has received widespread backlash.
A 60 kilometre speed sign erected states the wrong local authority in As Gaeilge and reads Westmeath County Council as opposed to Monaghan County Council.
Sinn Fein councillor Niamh McCooey said she is “genuinely perplexed” as to how this mistake was made after it was brought to her attention by local Gaeilgeoirs.
She said the sign installed has been brought to the attention of Comhairle Contae Mhuineachain who have assured the local representative that the mistake would be rectified as soon as possible.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr McCooey believes there is a real important message behind this.
