Sinn Féin TD says government has 'serious questions to answer' around lack of funding for N2 scheme

The Clontibret to the Border N2 Road scheme was one of a number of projects to be stalled recently by the TII.

A local Sinn Féin TD says funding for the Clontibret to the Border N2 Road scheme has been diverted to Eamon Ryan's "pet projects".

It was one of a number of projects to be stalled by the TII in January.

The Ardee to Castleblayney part of the scheme remains on track after a one million euro allocation.

Matt Carthy says the government has "serious questions to answer" and has called on the Transport Minister, Eamon Ryan, to "reverse the decision to shelve" the project.

Speaking on The Wider View, Deputy Carthy said the failure to allocate funding could permanently condemn the project and will add further costs to possible future works on the scheme:
