There's been a slight increase in the number of houses built in Cavan and Monaghan in the last year.
According to CSO figures the Bailieborough-Cootehill and Carrickmacross-Castleblayney areas had the highest number of completions. Between 2023 and 2024, the number of houses built across the region increased slightly from 495 to 505. 125 houses were completed in Bailieborough-Cootehill and Carrickmacross-Castleblayney respectively. 69 dwellings were completed in Carrickmacross-Castleblayney in 2023. 68 completions were recorded in Cavan-Belturbet and 58 in Ballyjamesduff. In the Monaghan MD,86 were built and 43 in Ballybay-Clones.
In total in Monaghan, 254 new dwellings were completed in 2024 and 251 in Cavan.
