There's been an increase in the number of older people presenting at family resource centres through social prescribing.
That's according to the Clones Family Resource Centre. Social prescribing offers GPs and other health professionals a means of referring people to a range of non-clinical community supports which can have significant benefits for their overall health and wellbeing. The Clones Family Resource are highlighting the benefits of the service ahead of Social Prescribing Day, where a number of free events are taking place.
Annemarie Fryers from the Clones Centre says it helps with tackling loneliness and isolation.
